REVISED: All my palettes are gone after 4.0 update!!!

My snapshots (backup) will not restore. Contacted Support. Have not heard back yet. Last time I reached out to them they never responded. Really disappointed. I had a ton of color palettes that I lost. I am a premium user. :( UPDATE: Support reached out and although I was unable to restore my palettes from the snapshot they were able to send me a backup so my palattes were saved. I highly recommend existing users create a backup or screen capture palattes before updating to 4.0.

New shortcuts are awful.

Great app, but the new shortcuts are insane. They’ve taken over basic text-selection stuff, like “Optiont+Arrow”. If you’ve been manipulating text for two minutes, the things you use every day are now eaten by Sip. Uninstalling, and checking back in six months. This smells of good theory and insanely tunnel-visioned exectution. We do more things than use Sip, devs. :)

Excellent update

The color dock and editor are extremely helpful. Good work. Excellent update.

great but default shortcuts are criminal

love you guyrs, but come on, you’ve reserved and assign yourself some default global shortcuts that are just a no no! option + maj + left: really? that’s for going back and selecting last word…! beside silly mistake update, great app!

Still the best!

I love that it’s lightweight, I love that it’s innocuous, I love that it’s super-easy to use, and I love that it’s regularly updated. Couldn’t ask for a better tool for this purpose. UPDATE: I’m still a huge supporter of Sip, I even blogged about how great it is a couple of years ago. Wouldn’t want to live without it. However, one surprising gaffe by the developer with this new release is the taking over of at least two basic, universal key commands: option left/right arrow. These are important commands for text editing - they jump the cursor one word to the left or right - and as such they should NEVER be messed with. Obviously these commands can be deleted in the preferences, and I can’t bring myself to ding you a star just for that because the app is still awesome, but I strongly advise the developer to remove these as defaults ASAP. UPDATE 2: Fixed! I discovered the (very prompt, thank you!) update just as I discovered that Sip was also commandeering cmd-shift-C for the Color Palette, but that’s also a critical shortcut for Illustrator (centers text alignment). I killed that shortcut before performing the update, so I don’t know if that was also changed with version 4.0.2, but I’m probably not the only designer to complain about this issue, so I imagine it was. :)

A Good Small App Just Became Great

Sip has always been quite helpful in putting together a color palette and quickly grabbing colors for visualizations. However, the latest update to version 4 just delivered an enormous improvement! Creating new color palettes on a Mac is now functional, and I love the new color dock. To me this update is worth paying another $10 for, but it’s free for people who have already purchased Sip! I highly recommend giving it a shot!

The best feature yet

“Export palettes as Swift file” thank you thank you thank you!

Account Sync Gives an Edge

The inclusion of history syncing now gives Sip a capability no other color picker has. The great thing is it allows one to not only work across multple machines, but even gives the ability to quickly view how a color looks on a seperate system.

Best color app around!

This app was super convenient and amazing, and then they upgraded it with all the features people were aksing for! Now, it’s mandatory on all my work machines. I just love it, and the devs are doing a great job adding features and squashing bugs!

All-Around Fantastic

Sip was made for the designer. Beautiful inside and out, it keeps every color within pixels of access—without intruding your workflow. It’s extremely easy to share palletes (collections of colors) with the rest of the team. Importing to Photoshop, Illustrator, and Sketch is a click away. So much more to say, but since it’s a free app just try it out if you havent!

Wonderful

Use it every day, it is fantastically simple and useful.

So many bugs since update

Used to love using this app every day—since I updated to the latest version a couple weeks ago, it’s been unuseable. First, the shortcut color pick tool stopped working—the actual picker never showed up. And now it’s picking all colors in grayscale or something. Sad to see such a g great app become so unstable and buggy. Cancelling my pro subscription :(

Integral part of my daily workflow.

When I downloaded Sip a few months ago, it instantly became a cornerstone of my workflow. I used to copy and past images into my working document, use the program’s color picker, then delete the image. Now all I have to do is use the shortcut (which I have mapped to a tertiary mouse button) and sip the color. Love it.

Super Useful Tool

I love software that works well and love it even more if it matures nicely over time. This app has been exceeding my expectations ever since I read about it a year ago. Super useful as a designer/developer. I’d be happy to pay for future updates should they prove equally useful and well thought out. Good job Olá Brothers.

Love the app, but WAY TOO MANY UPDATES!

App works great! My only complaint is the excessive number of updates.. lately it’s been an update a week (sometimes more). More of an annoyance than anything else, but just feels like a little overkill, since the updates have little or no noticeable difference. Sometimes after the update, I’ve got to go set up my hotkeys and settings again. Love the way the app works, though!
